Some teenagers women experience pain during menstruation. They
are unable to engage in any activity for one to two days of the worst day of
her menstrual period. So, how to overcome it?
Menstrual pain is called dysmenorrhoea occurs when the body produces too
much prostaglandin. Hormone-like substance that is made in the egg sac and the
uterine wall which served release of an egg from the ovary.
When prostaglandins are released, prostaglandins circulating through the
circulatory system, reaching the uterus and lead to pain. Some of the women's
body produces too much prostaglandin, whereas other women are too sensitive to
prostaglandins.
In other words, some women are lucky enough not menstruate at all, while
others experience painful menstruation for three to seven days.
If your periods are very severe, there are some things you can do, as
quoted from the book Menjadi Remaja Sehat pubhlished by Mizan :
1. Add omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. Exercise and a healthy diet
can be very effective.
2. Consume a single dose of 200 milligrams or 400 milligrams of
ibuprofen every six hours or four times a day to control the production of
prostaglandins. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) does not inhibit the hormone that
causes the pain, so you can feel better after taking this drug.
3. If both of those things still have no any effects, consult your
doctor. Professional handling would be more appropriate.
