Look pretty is a pride for a woman, especially in their
teens, although sometimes have to sacrifice the health. Some cosmetics that
used, contain harmful materials that can be absorbed into the body.
A study carried out Environmental Working Group (EWG) on blood and urine
samples in 20 young women aged 14-19 years showed that it contains dangerous
materials. Most of them are the triggers of cancer, some can affect the
hormonal balance.
The researchers identified no fewer than 16 kinds of dangerous compound
that believed to come from either powder cosmetics, perfume and so on. 16
hazardous materials then classified into 4 groups.
Here is a fourth class of dangerous material meant.
1. Phthalate
These materials are also used in the manufacture of plastic to elastic
properties. Impact on the health if inhaled or ingested in some measure are
triggering the reproductive system disorders, asthma and allergies.
In cosmetics, phthalates used as an extra solvent in a variety of
fragrance products.
2. Triclosan
Directly, triclosan used in some soaps and toothpaste products that can
lead to health problems when it reacts with the aquatic or watery environment.
One of them is a disruption in thyroid hormone balance.
Excessive use of triclosan also trigger indirect effects on health, ie,
by triggering germ resistance or immunity to antibiotics. Effects are the
emergence of super germs (superbug) that cause disease that not susceptible to
eradicate with antibiotics.
3. Paraben
These compounds are used as a preservative in instant noodles. this
compounds have side effects if used over the safety threshold. Because of its
similar to the hormone estrogen. in the body this compound will lead to
imbalances that could increase the risk of breast cancer.
In cosmetics, parabens are often used as a mixture of soap, shampoo,
toothpaste and deodorant. direct contact with the skin can cause allergies in
sensitive people.
4. Synthetic Fragrances
Some animal species naturally spend fragrance called pheromones, whose
function was to attract mates in the breeding season. By humans, this fragrance
was made copied and used in perfumes, as well as some types
of soap and hair care products.
Several types of synthetic fragrances are known to cause cancer in
animals. Although not yet tested in humans, strongly suspected this compound
also increases the risk of cancer in humans.
